Sometimes you don’t need a big tour to experience a bit of Dolce Vita. A few kilometres on the Vespa, enjoying a good espresso – and for a moment it almost feels a little like Italy.
Buongiorno Principessa is exactly that kind of place – right on the well-known S-Kurve in Bad Tölz.
If you know the Tölzer S-Kurve, you can hardly miss the little Italian café. Located not far from the road, almost like a small village square at the entrance to Gries, it’s reminiscent of those little bars you know from Italy: uncomplicated, lively and with just the right amount of Italian joie de vivre. You stop by for an espresso, strike up a conversation – and perhaps stay a bit longer than planned.
Buongiorno Principessa has only been around for a few weeks. But you can quickly tell it’s already being really well received: it’s often pretty busy. Around 20 seats inside and another 20 or so outside offer space for an espresso, a little break and a bit of Dolce Vita – in nice weather preferably outside, of course.
There’s also a charming detail: three parking spaces right in front of the café can be used as additional outdoor seating during the day until 7 pm. Tables and chairs are set up there, right in the middle of the action. And if you stay until 7 pm, you’ll witness a little spectacle: right on time, everyone pitches in together. Guests and staff simply move the tables and chairs a few metres closer to the building – and the little piazza becomes normal parking spaces again. Five minutes later, it’s all done. For us, it’s precisely this uncomplicated approach that gives Buongiorno Principessa its special charm.
If you fancy a bite to eat as well, you’ll find something here too. Alongside excellent Italian coffee, there’s crispy focaccia, freshly filled tramezzini or a lovingly assembled snack platter, among other things. Just the thing for a little pick-me-up before continuing on the Vespa.
It’s precisely this combination of Italian flair, manageable size and the special location on the Tölzer S-Kurve that makes Buongiorno Principessa a real Vespisti tip for us.
And it doesn’t always have to be a big day tour. The café is a lovely destination for a short Feierabendrunde, a spontaneous stopover or as a meeting point before heading off together.
Espresso in hand, sitting outside and watching the hustle and bustle at the Tölzer S-Kurve – sometimes you don’t need much more Dolce Vita than that. 😉
Our Vespisti tip: On your next ride through Tölz, just make a stop at the S-Kurve and try it out for yourself. The fact that Buongiorno Principessa has already got around shortly after opening probably isn’t by chance.
Buon viaggio e buon caffè! 🇮🇹☕🛵
